How Did She Get Here From There??
So most of you are wondering...How did she get to be a knitting Techygeekgirl?? You know about the techygeek part - 2 engineering degrees, documentation manager, love of gadgets, etc... But the knitting part came about through a series of events over the last year....(I'll be brief... my first draft got lost and I have stuff to do tonight, so I'll abridge the 2nd version...)
After my husband of 2 years, Mr. CFP (Hint: The C is for Clueless...), decided that he wasn't cut out for marriage and didn't want to try anymore, I threw him out and filed for divorce. That was final in January 05. Soon after, I found myself trying to date, thinking I was ready and ended up with a guy who thought I was desperate to get married, which was probably true at the time.
Not too long after that, in March o5, I met the son of a guy I work with and started dating him.(I'll call him Cowboy Bob, as that's what my dad calls him) He was very different than the other guys I had dated - ex-bullfighter, ex-bullrider, ex-firefighter and was working for the hwy patrol. He owned a 5 acre "ranch" with 4 horses out in the "country". I, on the other hand, grew up in suburban St. Louis and was scared to pet the horses when I first went out there! Surprisingly enough, we got along Ok and were even talking about getting married. (So he was talking May 05 and I was talking Oct 06 or later...but I digress) Anyway, we ended up meeting a couple at a church horse camp - Wayne and Anna.
Wayne and Anna were a lot of fun to hang out with...they were similar to us. Anna was from the "city" and Wayne was a roping cowboy in his spare time. We ended up spending a lot of time with them and got to be good friends. At the end of July 05, Cowboy Bob flaked out completely - went from "Let's get married" to "Stop stalking me" in 10 days. (It's now Oct 05 and he just got engaged to someone else, but again, I digress...) During this whole ordeal, I still talked to Anna & Wayne and Anna introduced me to the knitting world!
Actually she and her friend Robin took me to a yarn store in St. Charles and got me to buy some yarn(like there's a lot of coaxing to buy baby alpaca - please!). As it turned out, Mr. CFP had an aunt that had passed away that knitted, so I ended up with all of her needles and crochet hooks - a full set with multiples of ALL sizes! (It was either I keep it or it was bound to be on E-Bay soon!) Robin taught me how to cast-on, knit and purl over lunch and I was hooked! The next weekend, I visited another store in St. Louis and signed up for classes, where I worked on my first project - the knitted bag (see picture)

As for my personal life, I'm happily single (for the time being - Anna and everyone else say I'm not ready to date yet. I'm going through the re-establishment period that I should have gone through in January, but I think I'm coming close to the end of that!). I just bought a house and am decorating it like a mad woman. My pups (2 Westies - Brittany & Brodie) love the yard and the space and ponder over the knitting - what is that you are doing! I also started as an Independent Consultant for CLOSE TO MY HEART Stamping and Scrapbooking, so be ready to see stuff on that too!
