Seriously, Has It Been A Year?

Yep, it's been a year since I learned how to knit. In fact, it was the 30th of July last year that Anna & Robin took me to the yarn store in St. Charles. I bought 2 skeins of Cascade 220 and 2 skeins of baby alpaca. And I've only used one of those since then!

Here's a recap of all that I've finished since last year. I'll try to remember yarns & patterns, but don't hurt me if I don't right away....

My first project was a cute little bag that I started while in classes at Knitorious. Beth was my instructor and she was great! (She recently move to Cincinnati, so she'll be missed!) It's the Fabulous Felt Tote from Fiber Trends. The yarn is a Cascade 22o in shades of brown and then there is a confetti that went along with it at the top.

I then decided to join the "Fuzzy Feet Along" and made a pair of Fuzzy Feet out of Plymouth Chunky. The pattern is from Knitty.com. The FF's went to my friend Shauna for Christmas.

After that I made scarves for my cousin's girls out of Purple Homespun and Patton's Melody in Fun N Games.

I made scarves for my sister and my brother's girlfriend for Christmas out of various Pink colored yarn from Rowan in Big Print.

Right before Christmas, Anna & discovered the "magic" of the Knifty Knitter and I vowed I would never make a hat on needles again...I made hats out of Jelli Beenz yarn for every kid I know! (And I bought more yarn for more hats for T's nieces & nephews this year!) I also made a hat for my brother Matty out of Reynold's Blizzard yarn in Sage Green.

In the spring I finished the sheep for Shauna's kids. They were made from Cascade 220 from a pattern in Encyclopedia of Knitting by Donna Kooler. They loved them!

Just this past couple of weeks I finished the Sophie Bag . It's made out of the Cascade 220 I bought the first time I went yarn shopping with Robin & Anna. See, I do use yarn out of my stash!

I also finished another scarf in Iceland Rose that was going to be for my SIL, but I ran out of yarn and couldn't find any more locally. It's way too short (thus Brodie as a reference), so it's going to a niece for Christmas.

So...there's the list of FINISHED OBJECTS.....How about the list of UNFINISHED OBJECTS....
(note that the list is about the same if not LONGER!)

Let's start with the Fiber Trends Snow Country Felted Mittens in Outback Wool from Plymouth.
How about the Irish Hiking Scarf in Misti Alpaca - I'm into the 2nds skein, but it hasn't seen daylight since well before the last snowfall!

Or how about the infamous Olympic Socks that never really got out of the starting block!

Then there are the Socks That Rock that have had the pattern changed SEVERAL times and is about to be changed to the Yarn Harlot pattern.

Here's the scarf I started for myself in Debbi Bliss SOHO. It's just a basic 2k/2p rib stitch.

How about the Baby Surprise jacket in Knitpicks Shine Worsted, Grass color. I still haven't a clue if I'm making it right, but I think it's going to be a frogged project and I'll make another one using another pattern.

And to finish it off, here is the scarf for my SIL in progress. I went with another yarn and a basic garter stitch, as the stockinette was curling on me. And incidentally, I frogged it this morning and started over on it while waiting for my car, as I thought it was too wide. I'm hoping to have it done by Christmas!

Thanks Anna and Robin for teaching me to knit. (I can't be mad at them - they have pointy sticks AND they know how to use them!)
